Florida is the largest producer of sweet corn in the U.S. It is mostly grown in the southeast and central parts of Florida. Sweet corn is available from October until June, peaking in the months of April and May. It is best to buy sweet con with the husk still attached. Look for husks that are green; straw colored husks should not be purchased. Press against the husk and you should be able to feel the kernels inside; they should be plump. Store sweet corn in the husk in a refrigerator or a cool, dry place.
